Gluten Free Chestnut Sausage Sourdough Stuffing

This is my favorite Thanksgiving day stuffing, so much flavor, moist and fluffy. Always a crowd pleaser.

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp chopped fresh garlic
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 cups crumbled italian sausage
  • 4 Cups Love Life and Pizza Gluten Free Sourdough chopped up into 2 inch squares or store bought GF Bread
  • 2 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 cup chopped cooked chestnuts
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp fresh chopped sage
  • 1 tsp fresh chopped basil
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven at 400F degrees.
  2. In a medium sauté pan heat olive oil up with fresh garlic. Sauté on medium heat until garlic is translucent, then add the crumbled sausage .
  3. Cook sausage until there is no more pink. Set aside
  4. In a large bowl soak cubed sourdough bread in the water
  5. Add the salt, garlic powder, parmesan cheese, chestnuts, sausage with the oil it was cooked in, and fresh herbs.
  6. Mix everything together by hand until well blended.
  7. Let rest for 15 min.
  8. Grease a 12" casserole dish and add stuffing.
  9. Sprinkle top with some fresh parmesan for added flavor and texture.
  10. Bake until top is golden brown.
  11. Serve with your favorite protein.
